b"Prom was a 2020 musical film adaptation of the eponymous 2018 Broadway musical. It was directed by Ryan Murphy, and adapted to screen by the play's original authors; Chad Beguelin, Bob Martin, and Matthew Sklar. Partially inspired by real world events, The Prom follows the story of four past-their-prime theatrical performers, who in a fit of desperation for publicity travel to Indiana to inject themselves into a small town's drama over a lesbian student's exclusion from her high school prom. The film received a limited theatrical release at the tail-end of 2020, and eventually landed on Netflix, receiving largely tepid-to-negative reviews.
