011 - Valley Girl ("You Have To Buy Me DIN-ner")

b"Valley Girl was a 1983 retelling of Romeo & Juliet set in Los Angeles, California, wherein the roles were swapped out for a Hollywood rocker and a titular Encino valley girl. In addition to being a major commercial hit with audiences, the film is most notable for launching the acting career of Nicolas Cage.

In 2012 it was announced that the film would be remade as a jukebox musical film, relying upon a soundtrack of re-arranged 80s hits. Multiple production issues ranging from changes in distributors to controversies surrounding actor Logan Paul prevented the remake from seeing release until 2020. On top of being a critical dud, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented it from seeing a wide theatrical release, leaving it as little more than a cinematic afterthought.

On this episode of Hell Is A Musical Lilz and Scott go guestless as they attempt to make sense of the 2020 movie musical remake of Valley Girl. Join them as Lilz shares her visceral disgust for jukebox musicals, Scott marvels at Josh Whitehouse's complete lack of singing voice, and the two of them dunk on Logan Paul a lot.

GODDAMN, do we hate Logan Paul.

...with Lilz and Scott!"
