The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe - Killer Cards - Jan. 12, 1951 - Detective Mystery

This series ran from 1950-51 as a Detective Mystery Drama on NBC. Sydney Greenstreet played Rex Stout's fictional armchair detective Nero Wolfe. Stout wrote several books based on the character beginning in 1934. "The Adventures of Nero Wolfe" ran in 1943 and 1944 and "The Amazing Nero Wolfe" ran in 1945 and 46. Very few recordings of the original programs exist today. Sydney Greenstreet's physique fit that of Stout's character. Nero Wolfe was also known as the galloping gourmet and an armchair detective. He rarely left the house; instead his assistant, Archie Goodwin, would collect the facts and report back to him. Gerald Mohr plays the role of Archie. Wolfe would probably have not taken on any cases, except he needed the money to for his two passions: fine food and the collecting of orchids. The episode on this track is "Killer Cards" and Nero is very reluctant to take on the case. This track will live in the "Detective/Mystery" Playlist. Thanks for listening.
