Judy Canova Show is quite popular on this Podcast... and it was on radio for 10 yrs (1943-53). Judy Canova was a classically trained vocalist but as those of you who are familiar with her show know, she made herself to be a hillbilly, hog caller, and hayseed! Publicity photos showed her with a shotgun and wolf traps. She wore pigtails and calico dresses. She told stories about her pet Pig, Loverboy or her cousin Ureenus, whose favorite dessert was chopped liver ice cream. Supporting cast includes: Hans Conreid, Sheldon Leonard, Gerald Mohr, Gale Gordon, Sharon Douglas, Joe Kearns, Verna Felton, Ruby Dandridge, Mel Blanc, and Elvia Allman. The Sportsmen Quartet performs as does Judy. She sings a "silly" song and always does another song near the end of the show that demonstrates her true vocal talents.
