This "Cavalcade of America" broadcast, sponsored by DuPont Chemical Company, aired on Feb 12, 1936. It is best called a Historical Drama... it covers Lincoln's life from a boy up until he was a young lawyer... and then ends with a dialog with his stepmother Sally Bush Lincoln, who is visited after Lincoln had been assassinated. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a single-room log cabin on Sinking Spring Farm in LaRue County, Kentucky. He was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865 at the Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. President Lincoln was 56. Booth was killed in Virginia on April 26, 1865...by Union Cavalry sent to capture him. He was 26. The style of this Cavalcade of America presentation is an example of the kind of radio that was prominent in 1936... a lot of drama and a full orchestra accompanying the production.
