From the pen of Herman Melville comes a radio adaptation of his short story "Bartleby The Scrivener" aired as part of Erik Bauersfeld's dramatic/horror program "The Black Mass" on Sept 14, 1965. Tells the tale of a very strange Scrivener (scribe, clerk, hand copies legal documents and court notes) who consistently says "I Would Prefer Not" "The Black Mass" program originated from KPFA-FM produced, directed, often acted in the series, Erik Bauersfeld who was Director of Berkley's Drama and Literature Department at the radio station.
