The "Cugats" soon to become the "Coopers" because of a lawsuit threatened by band leader Xavier Cugat... that he did not want people to think the comedy was about his life... so the producers changed the name in 1949. A very popular sitcom producing 124 half-hour episodes on CBS radio and would morph into a television program in 1950 that would replace Richard Denning with Desi Arnaz (Lucille Ball's real-life husband) and renamed the show "I Love Lucy!"
