It Pays To Be Ignorant - What is a Bargain Sale? Aug. 30, 1946 - AFRS
A very popular show on this podcast... with a rather "catchy" title. The title almost kept the show from ever going on the air. Networks thought it was too insulting. WOR in NYC took a chance and the show was a success that ran 11 years on Mutual, CBS, and NBC - 1942-51. It was especially popular with our troops overseas during WWII and thus was broadcast over the Armed Forces Radio Service who also managed to keep the transcription disks in good shape so that we can enjoy the show even today. Oh, and if the band sounds "loopy" that is how they are supposed to sound... audience loved them! This will be stored in the "Game Shows" Playlist
