GI Jill - Gi Jive - AFRS - Four Song Session - 1948
I have a good-sized playlist of GI-Jill programs on this podcast, but it has been quite a while since I have posted another 4 music session (15 min) from GI-Jill whose real name was Martha Wilkerson. She was extremely popular with our servicemen during WW II and for a few years following. This 15 min set includes songs from Benny Goodman, Peggy Lee, Bing Crosby, Mel Blanc, and Dinah Shore. GI-Jill never gave her real name on the air and listeners did not know she was married and had children... she just wanted to do something to help the war effort and raising morale was what she did!
