What's Your 'Normal' In Relationships - Lyn Smith & Monica Ortiz

Lyn is joined by Monica Ortiz, founder of The Exceptional Life Institute, dedicated to the principle that self-education leads to self-evolution, for a discussion about what we consider to be our "normal" when it comes to the relationships we have in life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mental health is a term negatively used by too many people these days. In many cases it's about recognising it's normal for us all to have mental health challenges to some degree, but that there are tools, strategies and techniques at our disposal to help us manage/ cope and overcome these challenges. When issues arise, it does no good to have a victim mentality, such as feeling that life is happening 'to us' and that we have no power. Instead it's better to take back our power and have the attitude that life is happening 'for us' and ask ourselves what we are meant to learn from the situation. The 'normal' that we choose for ourselves can often be from our past childhood / relationship history and driven by an underlying need that we do not consciously recognise. If we're in an unhealthy relationship, whether we're blaming our partner or blaming ourselves, we must look below the surface at the root cause and address it from a place of love and compassion. BEST MOMENTS 'We all want to feel good. We all want to know that we're connecting to other people' 'It's about removing negative labels from our vocabulary' 'Everybody's fix is different' VALUABLE RESOURCES Hearts Entwined Podcast Apple Podcasts (iTunes) Spotify Stitcher    ABOUT THE GUEST Monica Ortiz Monica Ortiz has pioneered the field of self-education through her organization The Exceptional Life Institute, helping people step beyond "self-help" into true self-evolution and growth in every area of their life.
