If men can’t fix a problem they will either withdraw or become frustrated. Men need space on their own to figure out a problem. There is a difference between listening and active listening. Active listening is about being fully present in the moment. It’s important to schedule time to be fully present with each other. Every individual will have a primary love language. When you are able to communicate in your partners primary love language it’s a game-changer. Women naturally offer to help each other without it feeling offensive to them, whilst men need to be asked to help you out (otherwise he figures you are perfectly capable and happy to do it all yourself!). Men on the otherhand want you to know that they're perfectly capable of doing things for themselves, so they feel offended if you offer to help without being asked by them first, he'll receive it as unsolicited advice. Men only ask for help, when they absolutely have to. Learning to let go of the process and recognising the 'help' differences is an important part of effective communication.
