Gaelin Rosenwaks, Thoughtful Thursday Underwritten by Green Hill Kitchen

East End marine biologist and author/photographer of “Sperm Whales: The Gentle Goliaths of the Oceans,” Gaelin Rosenwaks joins The Heart of the East End to discuss how a beached baby sperm whale named Physty beached on Long Island in 1981 ultimately sparked her fascination with the deep sea giants that led to her first book. Gaelin will present her new book at the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum at 3 p.m. on Saturday before her October 22nd event at the Montauk Lighthouse. John Schott, HOTsounds Underwritten by William Ris Gallery

North Fork musician John Schott of Faces & Ages joins Gianna to talk about how Greenport kids made their mark by advocating for and helping to build the initial iterations of Greenport’s skate park. He gives props to Greenport Village business owner Rena Wilhelm of The Weathered Red Barn for her efforts in organizing this summer’s skate festival fundraiser, which will hold pop-up events through the slower seasons, including Sk8tober. Sk8tober will happen between noon and five p.m. this Saturday, with Faces & Ages performing live. For more information, follow @greenportskatepark on Instagram.
