Danielle Perillo, Friday Morning Tea Underwritten by Village Overhead Doors

Danielle Perillo of the New York Marine Rescue Center joins Gianna Volpe on-air to discuss the 25th anniversary Run for the Ridley 5K, which can be run live tomorrow morning in downtown Riverhead or virtually anywhere you are via a tracking app through the end of the weekend. The race raises funds for New York’s only organization to rescue, rehabilitate and release sea turtles, including the critically endangered and very rare Kemp’s Ridley. At press time, NYMRC has 24 such animals in their care, which they plan to release when local waters are at their warmest. For more information, including how to register for the race or take a cold-stun lecture May 11th to learn how to save endangered sea turtles in the colder months, visit nymarinerescue.org.
