Susan Galardi, Thoughtful Thursday Underwritten by https://www.guildhall.org/ (Guild Hall) https://parrishart.org/ (Parrish Art Museum)’s director of communications talks about a women’s history event screening experimental films made by members of Women Artist Filmmakers, a local network established in 1974 to discover, celebrate, and support women artists who make films, which will be paneled by Rosalind Schneider and Sara VanDerBeek Friday night, March 11, at 6 p.m. From the Parrish website: “This selection of films was organized by Schneider and Martha Edelheit, one of the group’s original members, for a commemorative screening conducted at The Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs in 2021. The event was the conclusion of Soft Network’s multi-venue programming entitled Interior Scroll or What I Did on My Vacation which explored feminist, inter-generational, and multi-disciplinary artistic interactions that have been integral to the ongoing development of the arts communities of the East End.” Joe Lauro, https://www.wliw.org/radio/programs/american-grooves/ (American Grooves Radio Hour) In addition to previewing the next edition of the American Grooves Radio Hour, a “melting pot” show featuring music from different cultures, Joe talks about this Saturday’s Soul Spectacular over at Bay Street Theater, which will include a tribute to Otis Redding. He discusses how the Monterey Pop Festival and filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, exponentially expanded horizons for Otis, as well as Janis Joplin and other artists.
