Susan Schrott, Rise With Radiance Licensed social worker and textile designer discusses her work and a short doc that premiered yesterday in connection with the Montauk Library’s “Virtual Visit” series and focuses on Susan’s artistic journey and Shelter Island art studio. We discussed her impending “Rise With Radiance” book and affirmations, which was borne out of grieving for her father, as well as effects that the pandemic has had on treating mental health field, including expansion through digital mediums MoAna Luu, ManLuu Jewelry Martinique’s own MoAna Luu found explosive success when launching a jewelry line inspired by her family and cultural heritage when Gwyneth Paltrow, Mary J. Blige and Cardi B became instant fans of her bold, androgynous work. As the Museum of Art & Design’s MAD about Jewelry exhibition gets going in NYC, MoAna shares the story of how jewelry has deep connection with Creole history, including how slaves were allowed to own jewelry, but not land, and why beads are a central tradition of the Mardi Gras holiday. She also discusses her connection to stones and her belief in how certain stones can affect one’s energy.
