Paradise Report #17

On November 6th, 1887, following a meeting in St Mary's Church Hall, it was declared “a football club will be formed for the maintenance of dinner tables for the children and unemployed”. 125 years later dignitaries, officials, invited guests and supporters of that same club gathered once again in St Mary's to celebrate the anniversary of that founding. KK was among the lucky few to attend. The first hour of this podcast covers the opening speeches of the ceremony, followed by a dramatical piece reflecting on the founding of the club. The next ninety minutes covers the mass itself, and involves several well known figures at key points. A further presentation takes place prior to the final blessing, before the celebration moves to Celtic Park for a simple dinner and some more speeches. Finally, KK catches up with Jim Blyth of the Celtic Graves Society and Father Thomas White of St Mary's.
