Repent: The King is Coming

Luke is anything but a boring story. In the New Testament the gospel account, written by who most scholars agree was Paul’s physician, is among the most elegant, multi-layered, and well-constructed narratives in all of Biblical literature. The series subtitle, Rise & Fall, comes from a major theme running throughout the book. As we discover the true Kingly and Messianic identity of Jesus and the role God will have him play in his mission, we repeatedly stumble on a paradox: those who think they are ‘rising up’ when they reject Jesus are actually being ‘brought down’; yet those who think they are being ‘brought down’ when they follow Jesus, are in fact ‘rising up’ with him. We invite you to read, study, listen, sing, and think through this story with us. Re-experience the story and find your place in it. In the middle of the story you may find Jesus turning to you to ask, “What part do you play in God’s mission?” As a community of people following Jesus, we want to help you consider what your answer to that question might be.
