Jesus as Prophet

Page after page, the New Testament weaves together a tapestry of themes, allusions, symbols, and stories that echo the ancient voice of Yahweh, a voice whose melody has been heard throughout the Law, the Wisdom Literature, and the Prophets. As we listen to the young rabbi, we discover that the Ancient Voice has found resonance in the mouth of this restless prophet. And to our surprise the Bible is not primarily about us, and what we should do. It’s a story about the God of Israel and what he has done in and through Jesus. His symbolic actions and riddled stories all have their roots in Old Testament soil. So, our new series takes a journey backward into the Jewish narrative of priests, prophets, kings, Temple, law, and covenant to see that “every story whispers his name.”
