Everyone wants to be home for Christmas. Whether you’ll be home this Christmas or not, God offers us an even better definition of “home,” and he offers it to us for more than one day. One of the names the Bible uses to refer to Jesus is Immanuel, which means “God with us.” In Jesus, God is always with us so that we never have to be without him. On Christmas Day, we focus our attention on the mystery and the miracle of the incarnation. The child whose birth we celebrate is God in the flesh. Because he is, he also reveals our God to us. No longer does mankind learn about God in bits and pieces. Instead, Jesus is the full and final revelation of God. In him we see the glory of God – he is full of grace and truth.
