It’s been said that Jesus was always humble but never modest. Although he never sought glory or recognition for selfish reasons, he never shied away from clearly proclaiming himself to be God’s Son, the promised Messiah, and the Savior of the world. This week, we see Jesus give the very first evidence of his divinity. This miracle, like all of Jesus' miracles, was much more than a cool party trick done to impress others. Rather, it was a sign. It pointed to a greater reality: the reality of his identity as the Son of God and the eternal celebration he came to bring us to.
