This was a slow week for me when it comes to box office releases that I actually want to see and review. I also had a chance to see a few movie trailers that make me wonder how did this even get greenlit by their respective studios. So here I go with what’s coming up in the box office that you may or may not want to see.

This week it was announced that Mark Hamil was going to voice Chucky in the Childs Play Reboot. I’m cool with a great voice actor doing his thing but remakes and horror movies are always on my why do they exist list.

Annabelle Comes Home (Warner Bros) – I think that everyone knows I can’t stand Horror films. I really don’t like being scared. Although, I think this is basically dragging this one out to the point of what was scary in the 1st film is becoming more and more ridiculous. Why would you want a creepy doll around? Didn’t we learn from Chucky?

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (CBS Films) – The teaser trailer for this dropped this week and I guess the anthology horror genre season is upon up again. Everyone that likes old school Tales From the Crypt style but a little more graphic this will be for you. The teaser didn’t tease me enough to break my Horror Movie ban.

Pet Semetary (Paramount Pictures) – Did they really need to remake this? The first time they made this I was terrified. Back in my single days I was trying to be the big bad dude like “Hey Baby let’s watch this scary movie” and she would be like oh you are so brave…But when I was covering my eyes like a little kid that whole idea didn’t go as planned. Paramount is making that money grab and rehashing this one. Even though, I prefer the creepy Fred Gwynn (Herman Munster) from the original.

Let’s lighten the mood – Horror movies aren’t the only movies dragging our collective IQs lower than where it should be.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (Paramount Pictures) – Is this the remix of Lora Croft for kids? I felt a little insulted by this one because they slide a few stereotypes in this trailer. Pointing out the Hispanic kid has a knife is a little slick on the stereotype tip. Plus, the CGI Monkey is a little creepy looking. But Michael Pena may save this one for me and because my grandkids may want to see this.
