Many parents share that they choose to lie to their children for their protection. While there are those who lie because they believe the child does not have the capacity to handle the truth. Another reason is that they (parents) are afraid to be transparent with their children in fear of being judge, rejected, and also being shamed. Surprisingly there are those parents who lie because it\'s a societal trend, "be like the Jones" or it\'s a "thing".

Researchers at MIT have found that children are not gullible, and can in fact sense when parents are lying to them, causing them to distrust the very people who are their caretakers
