God's People (Johnson)

Psalm 97:1-7a
1 Peter 2:1-10

We call ourselves a lot of different things—Christians, Believers, Christ-followers, Disciples of Jesus, and the Church. All of those names are actually true and biblical, but there is one name that we don’t often use—God’s People. It’s repeated in Psalm 95 and elsewhere. It reminds us of an amazing truth—we belong to God! We are His. We are His own beloved possession. As being His, we need to represent Him in this world. When we live and move and have our being in this world, Psalm 95 reminds us that we do so as “God’s People.”
