D., C.A.S. is here to help you. Dr. Wooleverton is founder and director of The Village Institute for Psychotherapy in New York City, and he specializes in treating substance abuse and addictive disorders. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York and Arkansas. In addition, he is a Certified Practitioner in Substance Abuse and Addictive Disorders. Dr. Woolverton founded The Village Institute in 1994. In 2005, he expanded The Village Institute to Fayetteville, Arkansas. He has been in private practice providing psychotherapy as well as substance abuse treatment for over 25 years. During that time, he developed a unique form of therapy that emphasizes both swift behavioral change of immediate problems as well as the importance of insight into the origins of personal problems, which helps to make short-term changes well-rooted and long-lasting. His success in the treatment of substance abuse and addictive disorders has been reported in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and numerous other publications. Dr. Woolverton teaches courses to psychologists and other mental health professionals on how to effectively treat substance abuse disorders. He trains students, counselors and psychotherapists to be proactive and creative in the clinical work that they do with patients. Dr. Woolverton has also authored an American Psychological Association Continuing Education course titled: "The Development of Addictive Disorders: Theory and Treatment."
