\\nI’ve been reflecting on life recently and I’m starting to see a pattern in me and many around me. Putting in much effort without seeing results can be disheartening at best, demoralizing at worst.
\\nPutting effort into healthy lifestyle changes only to see health indicators unchanged
\\nDieting without any change on the scale
\\nPutting effort into work only to be passed up for promotion
\\nIt rarely feels good to know that we are putting in the work without the expected change.
\\nIt seems the same feeling can apply to our spiritual journey as well. I think we want to put time and effort into growing our awareness, trying to create a healthy sense of “we”, and having that make real healthy impacts in our lives and the lives of the people around us.
\\nSo we probably don’t want to put effort into something that isn’t working.
\\nI was at my doctor recently, reviewing my blood work. The part of my blood that I thought I needed to focus on to get into a healthy range, didn’t actually need any help. I was doing a bunch of things to try to change something that was actually healthy. So too in our spiritual lives, we can be focused on the wrong areas and missing the areas that we actually need to work on.
\\nWouldn’t it be nice to know where to put in our effort to get the greatest return in our spiritual journey? And to know what part of our spiritual lives are actually going pretty good and don’t need any additional effort?
\\nWouldn’t it be nice to know that this next year of work will actually bear fruit in our spiritual lives?
