Join us this Christmas weekend as Pastor Shane continues our series, Love Came Down.

Title of Message: To bring me peace

(John 6:51) (NLT) I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.”

(Luke 2:6-7) “While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

(Luke 12:51) “Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.”

(John 16:33) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

The Peace Predicament

1. Unavoidable circumstances.

(Jeremiah 4:20) “Disaster follows disaster; the whole land lies in ruins. In an instant my tents are destroyed, my shelter in a moment.”

2. Unbearable people.

(Psalms 109:3) “With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.”

3. Unexplainable problems.

(Matthew 27:46) “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

(Luke 2:10-14) “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

(Luke 2:14) (GW) “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those who have his good will!”

(John 14:27)(LB) “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Find the favor of God by:

1. Receiving God’s pardon.

(Romans 5:1) “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2. Running to God’s presence.

(Isaiah 26:3) “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

3. Respecting God’s principles.

(Psalm 119:165) “Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”
