Hope, Part1: The Anchor of The Soul

Symptoms:

Disoriented.
(Job 17:13)\xa0 \u201cWhere then is my hope?\xa0 Who can see any hope for me?\u201d

Drifting.
(Isaiah 53:6)\xa0 \u201cWe all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way.\u201d

Despair.
(2 Corinthians 1:8)\xa0 \u201cWe were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.\u201d

What is Hope?
Hope is a confident expectation based on something solid.

(Hebrews 11:1)\xa0 \u201cNow faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.\u201d

(Psalm 71:14)\xa0 \u201cBut as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.\u201d

\u201cWhat do I have to do to get it?\u201d

1.\xa0\xa0\xa0 Hope requires trust.
(Romans 4:18)\xa0 \u201cAgainst all hope, Abraham in hope believed\u2026\u201d

(Psalm 42:11)\xa0 \u201cWhy are you downcast, O my soul?\xa0 Why so disturbed\nwithin me?\xa0 Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior\nand my God.\u201d

2.\xa0\xa0\xa0 Hope is anchored to something unseen.
(2\nCorinthians 4:17-18)\xa0 \u201cFor our light and momentary troubles are\nachieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.\xa0 So we\nfix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is\nseen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.\u201d
