Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of\xa0the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,\xa02\xa0according to\xa0the foreknowledge of God the Father,\xa0in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and\xa0for sprinkling with his blood: May\xa0grace and\xa0peace be multiplied to you. 3\xa0Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!\xa0According to his great mercy,\xa0he has caused us to be born again to a living hope\xa0through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,\xa04\xa0to\xa0an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and\xa0unfading,\xa0kept in heaven for you,\xa05\xa0who by God's power are being guarded\xa0through faith for a salvation\xa0ready to be revealed in the last time.\xa06\xa0In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by\xa0various trials,\xa07\xa0so that\xa0the tested genuineness of your faith\u2014more precious than gold that perishes\xa0though it is tested by\xa0fire\u2014may be found to result in\xa0praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.\xa08\xa0Though you have not seen him, you love him.\xa0Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,\xa09\xa0obtaining\xa0the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 10\xa0Concerning this salvation,\xa0the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully,\xa011\xa0inquiring\xa0what person or time\xa0the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating\xa0when he predicted\xa0the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.\xa012\xa0It was revealed to them that\xa0they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you\xa0by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven,\xa0things into which angels long to look. 1 Peter 1:1-12 (ESV)
