Is is possible that there is something your life so sacred and so valuable that God put special guidelines and protection around it?

That He promised that when you walk according to those guidelines that he'd bless you beyond what you can imagine and rebuke the enemy, so that he cannot steal kill and destroy?

And also if you don't follow them, that you would bring a curse on yourself and open a doorway to the enemy?

Joshua 7:10

Non-optional Principles of Tithing

  • Hebrew "accursed thing"
    • Under the ban
    • "They have partaken of the devoted thing"
    • Something that was devoted to God and banned from being used as something common
  • Before conquering Jericho, Joshua warned the nation
    • Joshua 6:18
    • God set Jericho as the fruitfruits of the Promised Land
    • They were not to touch any of the spoil
    • It was dedicated to God for sacred use
  • Jericho was the tithe city
    • They could share the spoil of all the other cities
    • But the spoil of Jericho was to go into the treasury of the Lord

Achan took some of the spoil for himself

Joshua 7:11-13

There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”

  • God has financial principles of His kingdom, just as any other kingdom
    • You have follow God's principles of finance

Proverbs 3:9-10

"Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine."

Ezekiel 20:40-41

“For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord GOD, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things. I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles."

Malachi 3:6-12
