Film Fallout Podcast #99 - The Road to a Mute Annihilation

Published: Feb. 27, 2018, 11:34 p.m.

Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan have prepared for their annihilation, have you? Well, Alex Garland reminds us that we’re all on the brink of extinction with his new film, aptly titled Annihilation. We explore what the film meant to us, how it compares to the book its based on by Jeff VanderMeer, and why it’s one of the best horror science fiction films in a long time. We also get into Duncan Jones’s newest Netflix movie, Mute, and why one decision in particular felt so out of place. And then hear us rave about The Road Movie, one of the coolest movies we’ve seen recently. We also vent about a recent Indiewire article and Jennifer Lawrence not being able to make it through Phantom Thread. Next week we will be celebrating our 100th episode in the same way we celebrated our 50th: with some older films we just want to dive into. We’ll be talking about Ninja III: The Domination and The Visitor. Oh yeah, and the Oscars are this Sunday so expect our reactions to that. We’ll be back to normal on our 101st episode. You can find Film Fallout every week on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as anything else that pulls an RSS Feed.
