Film Fallout Podcast #68 - The Book of Henry's Rough Night

Published: June 21, 2017, 3:06 p.m.

Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan suffered for you all this week. We did a review of Rough Night, the new entry in the raunchy comedy saga. This time, it stars Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoe Kravitz as they try to celebrate a crazy Bachelorette weekend. But as the title suggests, perhaps they have a rough night? We talk about the problems with the central idea behind the film, who stood out as the funniest and who didn't, as well as why the parts without the stars worked slightly better. But don't worry, if Rough Night is less your speed, may we interest you in The Book of Henry? Colin Trevorrow's latest film finds itself in a weird place and we try to break down why it doesn't work while Chris attempts to defend some of the more interesting choices Trevorrow has made. Better Call Saul's third season is over too, so Dylan discusses that and Chris talks about It Comes at Night. There's not much for Blu-rays this week (we didn't even pick a movie this week), but we have enough to discuss with the news and how Phil Lord and Chris Miller are no longer directing the Han Solo spin off. Which hurts us oh so much. Next week, we'll be back with a review of The Bad Batch. Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloud, iTunes, or on BagoGames. Also follow us on Instagram for some behind-the-scenes magic. We are both on Twitter, if you’d like to follow us there. Chris is @HammerkopCross, Dylan is @DreaminDylanS, and you can follow the podcast @Filmfalloutcast. And finally, there is a Facebook page for the podcast if you’d like to ‘like’ us on that.
