24.0 Two Brown Girls and a Mic with Special Guest Nisha Mody

Published: Dec. 17, 2020, 9 a.m.

In today's guest interview, powerhouse Nisha Mody and I sit down as two South Asian American women with mics and visit so many healing places.

Nisha and I talked about colorism. We talked about oppression. We talked about the caste system and how that and colorism go together. We talked about anti-blackness. We talked about the way the South Asian community has been brought into the anti-blackness as a result of colonization ,and many many more powerful things.

One of the things that I loved most about our conversation, in addition to the total raw, authentic vulnerability and the fierce authenticity of our conversation, is at the very end, when we talked about what is it that gets in the way of most South Asians and the South Asian community speaking up about racism, anti-blackness and other social justice issues and creating a greater, more equitable environment.

We got curious about why that is?

Listen in to hear the answer. ;)
