Unions still see problems with emergency paid sick leave at SSA, VA

b"Congress gave agencies what seemed like an impossible task: Stand up a brand new paid sick leave program for federal employees in two weeks. The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act allows federal employees to take up to 80 hours of paid or partially paid sick leave for one of six reasons related to the coronavirus pandemic. But implementing the new leave program - that's been difficult and confusing, to say the least, at some agencies. Unions aren't happy with the workaround the Social Security Administration came up with to allow employees to request the leave on paper.
