What's up Horror People,

Looking at The Wicker Man this week. A weird one for sure. But a good one.

Here's a brief overview in case you want don't need an hour of non-stop talking:

Though the film has aged, the ideas established in Wickerman (1973) remain a staple of horror. Who couldn’t identify the ancient struggle between religious Christian piety, and the untethered Pagans? The mystery draws us in, and the end leaves us haunted, but it is the archetypal nature of the story that elevates the tale beyond the linear search-and-find. It is executed in a wondrously ambiguous manner, letting the audience decide exactly what film they saw. You either walk away pitying the martyrdom of one who struggles against temptation, or you celebrate the fall of a rigid and immovable religious figure. Regardless of your designation, the abrasive contact between Sergeant Neil Howie and the islanders will chaff at your neck.
