What is the difference between an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) and an Initial Coin Offering (ICO)?

ICOs have raised billions of dollars since 2017 and have been extremely popular. Typically, ICOs raise money by accepting cryptocurrency in exchange for their tokens. The start up then uses the money to build its business while investors tokens are expected to increase in value.

Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) is like an ICO in the sense that they are both raising funds for their startup or existing business. The main difference is that an IEO is not open to the public, it relies on an exchange or multiple exchanges to handle the token sale/fundraising.
