They are asking their selves how much is this crypto, stock, ect going to be worth in 5,10,20 years? Trading on the other hand is more frequent trades in and out of any market with the intention to profit. It is short term and they buy or sell the market if they see an opportunity. While an investor can hold bitcoin for example for years only buying it one time. A trader could long and short bitcoin multiple times a week over and over again. Both methods are great and ultimately drive you towards the same goal.
