In our backfill month, it only seemed appropriate to sit down and talk about the alternate history classic The Purge (2013)!  This franchise has one of the most recognizable aesthetics in recent memory.  This movie does the leg work for the birth of a massively popular franchise, its amazing it took us this long to finally go back and cover it.  A movie sent in an alternate America where 1 time per year all crime is legal, and many Americans seem to participate in this slaughter.  The haves and the have nots are on full display in this completely apolitical film.  Regardless of all of that though, as much as we have gushed about the aesthetic of this film does that push it over the edge into the essential territory?  Listen in and find out!
