It's devastating to hear the news about the fires in Australia and the ways Climate Change is already having an impact on animals and humans. However, what is even more frustrating to hear is that companies like Siemens continue to participate in coal mining projects in the region despite calls from activists and youth around the world crying out to respect our future and our planet. It seems that industrial change will only come if it hurts financially and not through any sense of responsibility. Is corporate social responsibility a myth? It is merely a marketing tool? Why do profits continue to be placed over morals? In May 2019 I recorded a podcast about this just before my Sustainable Development exam and I think now the time is right to post it. Why are corporations so important to include in sustainable development? Why is it that they are not responding to activist calls? This podcast discusses these topics further to explore why so little action is taken and about what needs to be done.
