Nature Deficit Disorder and its consequences: Why is nature connectedness so important for conservation efforts and human wellbeing?

In our modern world spending time outside has become less common. Children are spending increasingly more time inside and in front of screens rather than outside. This is leading to a phenomenon known as \\u201cNature Deficit Disorder\\u201d. It describes a condition of an increased disconnect between the natural world and humans due to the fact that less time is spend outside. This also has consequences for conservation. We do not care for something that we do not love and value but how can we value nature if we spend less and less time outside?

Hence, spending time outside and instilling a greater sense of nature connectedness has become crucial if we want to live on a habitable and healthy planet. Spending time outside also has a very important part to play in both mental and physical health. So, let\\u2019s reconnect with our roots, spend time outside and find out what this world can teach us when we are prepared to listen.
