20-1217 History: Origins of Christmas Day
20-1217 Dr. Cawthorn investigates "How did Christmas end up being celebrated in the middle of winter, on December 25th?" This episode will look at two competing approaches known as the "History of Religions Theory" and the "Calculation Theory." The common view is that Emperor Constantine combined Christianity with pagan festivals to produce the Christmas celebration. However, that historical "gloss over" is an over-simplification!
