Ep 75 - 'Romance At The Op-Shop'

Published: March 5, 2019, 11:01 a.m.

While Corrie’s away in ‘Mother of the Groom’ mode, Anna from the Op-Shop and Caro’s daughter Rose come off the Interchange Bench for Episode 75 'Romance at the Op-Shop'. Caro shares the detail of her scary fire evacuation experience while hiking on the weekend which paled in comparison to some of the heartbreaking stories of loss emerging from bushfires in Gippsland in recent days.  The news of George Pell’s conviction last week has rocked the Catholic Church and the wider community to the core.  We pay tribute to journalist Louise Milligan who’s incredible reporting and writing about the case (including in her book Cardinal and Monday night’s Four Corners) has helped to expose the true toll of crimes that some, it would seem, seek to diminish. On a lighter note – we get an Op-Shop update from Anna where everyone's doing the 'Kondo, Kondo, Kondo' dance and there's more than a little romance in the air.  Caro’s 'Crush of the Week' is Rafael Nadal after he put Nick Kyrgios in his place, but she’s grumpy about what she sees is the AFL’s misguided investment in AFLX. In BSF – Anna and Rose jinx each other with an identical book recommendation for Normal People by Sally Rooney. Anna provides a rather brutal but honest review of the new Michael Caine film King of Thieves and she shares and easy and delicious duck salad recipe (recipe coming soon via our Facebook page). In ‘6 Quick Questions’ we remember Mike Willesee, get Rose’s millennial perspective on how much climate change issues could affect the next election and reminisce about Moomba memories. Rose shares a GLT, a fantastic free screening event at ACMI in Melbourne The Clock.  ***If you're in Melbourne on the morning of April 30th - SAVE THE DATE.
