A common fear that I often feel is that if I pursue other career opportunities, I will lose my identity as an actor. The reason I sometimes feel this way is that a few years ago I started dipping my toe into the world of producing. I enjoyed producing projects, I enjoyed producing my own work so that I could also act in it. What ended up happening is that people started to approach me for producing jobs but rarely acting work. I felt like I was becoming known as a producer and that everyone was forgetting that acting is what I truly wanted to do. So I stopped producing. This fear is incredibly limiting because it shut me off to a world of opportunities that could have led me to my purpose. I have seen it in other creatives, the hesitation to pursue other creative projects because they feel it might interfere with their identity as an actor or director or writer etc. This episode is here to tell you why this fear is unhelpful and to show you that when I let go of it, I started to rapidly move forward in every area of my career.
