b'Al Burrows, 74, played for the Washington Senators minor league rookie team from 1953 to 1954. Disappointed that he would never be signed to the majors by the Senators, Burrows left the team to play in the Negro Leagues with the blessing and help of a Senators coach. Burrows played for one year with the New York Black Yankees in 1954 and then played with the Indianapolis Clowns from 1955-1962, the final two years as a player-manager. The last of the Negro League teams folded under financial pressure in the early 1960s.
