Rachel Monroe | Author 'Savage Appetites'

If you have enjoyed past conversations with deep thinking perspectives on women and true crime, you will love today's interview with Rachel Monroe. Rachel wrote a fascinating book, Savage Appetites : Four True Stories of Women, Crime, and Obsession', that explores the relation between women and true crime. She puts forth an idea that there are 4 archetypes that women identify with and she devotes a section of her book to each one. If that sounds neat and tidy, it isn't. It's messy and nuanced and we get into all of it!  Sadly, our audio connection was less than stellar, so my final question to her didn't make it into the episode. When asked what is keeping her up at night, she answered watching YOU on Netflix, especially because she just moved and doesn't have a LOCK or CURTAINS yet. Send her your positive thoughts. I recommend this book ( and our interview) who is ready to challenge pre-set notions on true crime in general, and certainly as it pertains to femininity and femaleness.
