A personal note from Joe: Every time you see Johannes smile, I was telling stupid stuff / laughing in his earbuds. Sorry about that, but I had a lot of fun recording the interview.

Interview Partner

In this interview, we are talking to Johnnes Mattmann (https://www.linkedin.com/in/johannes-mattmann/,https://www.crunchbase.com/person/johannes-mattmann), founder of flyingshapes (https://www.flyingshapes.com/ https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/flyingshapes) a VR startup, which offers a software for industrial design (think automobiles, machines, planes, …).

Johannes studied particle physics and even had a research stay for his Ph.D. at CERN (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CERN). Known to many people from Big Bang Theory (as large hadron collider https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL9XeopaOTY) but should actually be known as the birthplace of the world wide web.

The Startup

During his studies, he had to make abstract data visual and process lots of abstract data, which he can now apply at flyingshapes. flyingshapes helps companies to do more of their product development process in their software and therefore enable them to accelerate their process. They also enable virtual design teams from across the world.

Venture Funding

Flying shapes raised investments in fall 2019 from ISB (https://isb.rlp.de/home.html) and Bito Campus (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/bito-campus), but they are looking for more investors in 2020. If you are interested, reach out and we connect you.
