EP.28 - Crossfit, context and competition. The journey from nomad to adoptive dad.

Published: Dec. 3, 2019, 11:36 a.m.

In this episode I have the privilege of talking to dad of two adopted boys, Reece Carter from Atlanta Georgia. Reece is a husband, father, real estate visionary /  architect, an unlikely church builder, Veteran Combat Engineer,  semi-decent drummer. He’s realized that many of the worlds most  complicated problems could be solved if men everywhere learned how to  step back and recognize their own need to be better husbands, fathers,  businessmen, and community leaders.

In this episode we discuss the importance of pushing yourself physically and how the timing of this durting the day determines the impact it has on your day. We talk about Reece's journey from being in essence a nomadic man with very few attachments to becoming an instant father as he and his wife adopted their first son. Reece also shares his thoughts on the positive aspects of competition and how to introduce kids to this in a positive way that builds resilience. We end off the conversation with the topic of how struggles build strength and the way we can avoid leaving our best days in the past, and to teach our kids this, so that they realise what happens at school is not a measure of who they are or will be.
