DAD STOIC | Your Child, Discipline and YOU

There is so much discussion about how we should discipline our children, and it is easy to see why some parents find this extremely challenging.

Often the focus gets put onto the behaviour of the child, which is unpredictable and constantly changing. As Stoics, the focus should be on what we can control and that means it should primarily be on ourselves and how we respond to bad behaviour and attitudes in our children, and NOT firmly placed on the behaviour of our children.

Having the ability to remain calm, present and intentional in the moments our children and teenagers are challenging, allows us to make wiser decisions on our responses on what consequences we decide on for our children.

Asking the right questions and reflecting on how we handled the situations of the day set us up to do this more effectively.
