AARON QUINN | LIVE, SERVE, THRIVE: LESSONS FROM FIREFIGHTING AND FATHERHOOD

Published: Nov. 25, 2020, 9:24 a.m.

Today I welcome Aaron Quinn onto the podcast.

Aaron is a career firefighter who has been in the job for 19 years in Oakland California. In addition to being a firefighter, he is also the head of physical training for all new recruit classes,  having trained over 50% of his department.

He is also a Wim Hof instructor, BJJ brown belt, and former CrossFit level 1 instructor. But most importantly he is a father of 3 and happily married.

In today's show, Aaron tells us about the challenges and opportunities of firefighting and how they add a unique lens on being a dad.

Aaron is gone for long chunks of time, has to deal with regular trauma and consistent sleep deprivation.

He also deals with having to reintegrate into normal family life after witnessing a myriad of horrors and dealing with the physical and mental stress of working in often extremely high-pressure situations.

Aaron and I have a really meaningful and thought-provoking conversation as we delve into his experiences and what he has learned from them as a man, father and husband, and I am privileged to have had him share them with me and to have been able to glean much wisdom from our conversation. I trust you will too.
