Jay Bakker is an author, speaker and founder of Revolution Gathering, a community for a more liberal form of Christianity. He was also son of televangelists Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker Messner, but in his young adulthood became disillusioned with the mainstream Church.

\\n

In 2001, he wrote the book Son of a Preacher Man: My Search for Grace in the Shadows which details his youth, relationship with his parents, and the founding of Revolution Church. Bakker\'s story has been chronicled in Time Magazine, and was retold in the 2006 documentary One Punk Under God: The Prodigal Son of Jim and Tammy Faye.  He has appeared with Barbara Walters, on Larry King Live and has been featured in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and Time magazine.

\\n

In 2011, he and Martin Edlund wrote the book Fall to Grace: A Revolution of God, Self, and Society, which explores the radical, transformative, and inclusive nature of grace, and also challenges Christians to reassess their understanding of salvation, and the bible. His most recent book, Faith, Doubt, and other Lines I\\u2019ve Crossed: Walking With An Unknown God chronicles his doubt about God, the Bible, heaven and hell, church, society, relationships, grace, and love. Bakker has endorsed gay marriage, advocated for the church\\u2019s acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, and is a proponent of an open, inclusive Christianity that embraces alternative lifestyles.

He believes in truth, the process and principles of philosophy, helping people live well and disagree well, reconstructing one\\u2019s beliefs, and embracing doubt and uncertainty.
