Please join the panel and Dr. Salvatore Pizzuro, Disabled Rights Activist, in a discussion on disabilities in general and the federal government. Dr. Pizzuro is a disability policy specialist and civil rights advocate in New Jersey. He has served as a consultant to the United States Congress on every reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act since the Law was first passed in 1975. He is the author of numerous books, professional journal articles and research studies in the area of disability policy, education, rehabilitation, and community acquiescence. Dr. Pizzuro, who is legally blind and a client of the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, represents people with disabilities at New Jersey's Office of Administrative Law. .Currently, Dr. Pizzuro is a member of New Jersey Transit's ADA Taskforce and has publicly expressed the need for accessible transportation for all New Jerseyans with disabilities in order to make them more employable. In addition, he was appointed by former Governor Corzine to the New Jersey Commission on Access and Mobility, which is dedicated to making all mass transit more accessible for people with disabilities.
